Interview with REALTOR® Natasha Yakovlev

Natasha Yakovlev, REALTOR®, is a lifelong resident of the Valley, raised in Amherst and living in the greater Northampton area for over 30 years. She attended UMass Amherst, where she received her BA in Russian Studies, later finding that her passion was in community building work where she could be of service. Natasha and her husband share a 200-year-old home in Florence where they raised two daughters and several four-legged family members. “It’s a good life here, please be in touch if I can get to work on helping you get settled!”

Volunteering is an important part of her connection to our local community, and after many years as a member and president of the Safe Passage board of directors, she now serves as the Chair of the Northampton License Commission.

Natasha has a natural inclination to work with people and a knack for business. With 16 years of experience, she is committed to your success as a buyer or a seller, and you will find that she is consistent, ethical, perceptive and able to steadily navigate challenges as they come.

What are you currently reading? Butter by Asako Suzuki (food and murder!)

Which living person do you most admire? Anyone who stands up for others has my admiration. Let’s all be that person!

How do you measure success? Success to me is knowing that I have built a rewarding career in a way that aligns with my personal values, and that I was able to demonstrate that for my kids as they were growing up.

What do you do to relax? I love to cook and share a long meal with friends and loved ones, but if I'm short on time and having a stressful day, taking a few minutes to sit outside and listen to the birds does wonders!

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Raising my two daughters to be confident, courageous people.

What are your favorite parts of living in the Five College Area? There’s so much! I appreciate that we have engaging, caring communities, great outdoor activities, and strong agricultural roots. It’s just a beautiful place to live. And, you can’t beat our summer farmstands!

What are you currently streaming / watching? The Righteous Gemstones, Survivor

What do you like best about being in real estate? I find it so satisfying to help people through the process of buying or selling a home. In many ways this work is about bringing people together, and that requires an ability to communicate openly as well as have a creative, respectful approach to problem solving -  two things I’m really comfortable with. Plus, I am the wonk that really likes the crazy schedule - no two days are the same!

What are some of your favorite movies or shows? Peaky Blinders, Shrinking, Severance

What is your favorite musician / band? Too many to list! But while on the subject I’ll quote my friend Bill: live music remains undefeated.
